Baby Cedar - A Home Birth Story

This post I’m going to be doing a little different. Elizabeth wrote her own birth story on her blog Back Road Family and it’s so beautifully written - you can find it HERE. So I thought I’d share a little back story about how this birth team came together and then share some of my favorite images. Then you can head over to Elizabeth’s blog and read her story - trust me, you’re going to want to read it!

Elizabeth contacted me just after finding out that she was pregnant because photography is such an important part of her life and she knew how precious images of her birth would be. Elizabeth and her family were still living abroad and said they wanted me to photograph their birth when they move back to the states. After they moved back and got settled, Elizabeth emailed me letting me know that they were now in the states, that they officially wanted to hire me, and she needed suggestions on a doula and midwife. Without skipping a beat, I suggested Michelle from Birth Matters because she was my midwife and I absolutely love her!! I also gave her a list of doulas and she picked Kelly Papas, who, along with being a doula is also a childbirth teacher, does placenta encapsulation, AND is training to become a midwife and happens to be one of Michelle’s student midwifes. I was so excited to work with Michelle again and to finally be able to work with Kelly!

Here is Elizabeth’s birth story in pictures, make sure to head over to her blog to read her story!PINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGEPINIMAGE
